The Sr. Maintenance Specialist provides advanced technical support at the interface between the operational Maintenance team and Process Engineering. The role focuses on complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, technical improvements and smaller engineering projects. Combining a strong hands‑on approach with engineering‑oriented problem solving, the Sr. Maintenance Specialist works across mechanical, mechatronic and automation‑related systems. The role requires a high degree of independence and technical ownership, with internal or external specialists engaged where additional expertise is required.
How you will contribute
- Provide advanced second‑level technical support for production and packaging equipment.
- Investigate complex technical failures, perform root cause analyses and implement sustainable solutions.
- Support and coach first‑level Maintenance technicians in complex troubleshooting and knowledge transfer.
- Take technical ownership of issues requiring engineering‑level investigation or third‑level support.
- Identify and implement technical improvements to increase equipment reliability, availability and maintainability.
- Support and execute smaller technical projects, equipment modifications and commissioning activities.
- Act as a technical interface between Maintenance, Production, Process Engineering and external suppliers.
- Build and maintain expertise in site‑specific technologies, including Automated Visual Inspection (AVI), serialization, 3D scanning and 3D printing.
- Continuously develop technical expertise through hands‑on experience, training and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure appropriate, accurate and GMP‑compliant technical documentation.
What you bring to Takeda
- Technical education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or a comparable discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Several years of practical experience in industrial maintenance, engineering, machine service or automation.
- Strong hands‑on experience with automated machinery and production equipment.
- Broad technical understanding of mechanical, mechatronic, electrical and automation systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership and drive technical issues through to sustainable resolution.
- Experience with PLC‑based automation systems (e.g. Siemens, Beckhoff, Schneider) and diagnostic tools is an advantage.
- Experience in GMP, packaging, serialization, AVI or CAD/3D technologies is an advantage.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, combined with a proactive and solution‑oriented approach.
- Very good command of German and good command of English, both written and spoken.
